Gray Divorce - Financial Reckoning after 50

Rise of Gray Divorce

I've seen much of this with friends and those a meet.  They are married for 30 to 50 years and then realize they can't stand each other.  What happens next is usually financial disaster for both.

Even a divorce at 40 can do big damage if you think that you've lost up to 20 years of work if you were the breadwinner and responsible one.  But both will suffer in many ways.

The obvious thing to do is to start from the beginning with a plan that includes the idea that you may have to go your own way.  This applies to both men and women.  Have your own money and manage your own credit where you can do so such as in credit cards and car loans.  Own your vehicle.
